You answered the call for help when the catastrophic earthquake struck Haiti. Now disaster has struck again and disaster victims in Chile are calling on your support.
Will you answer their call for help?
Early yesterday morning, a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Chile. The quake brought down buildings and houses in the capital city of Santiago, 230 miles from the epicenter.
From our Red Cross contacts on the ground we’re hearing reports of even more devastating damage in Concepcion a city home to 200,000 people, just 70 miles from the epicenter. As I write this, more than 200 people have been reported dead, and that toll is expected to rise.
As we saw in Haiti, the 48 hours immediately following an earthquake are critical to saving lives and we can act together now to help.
Your contribution to our International Response Fund right now will provide immediate relief and long-term support to victims of countless crises around the world each year, like the earthquake in Chile.
We’ve immediately pledged an initial $50,000 from our International Response Fund to assist communities impacted by today’s earthquake in Chile and will be prepared to provide additional relief.
